Return for Change’s 2022 roadshow kicked off in Carlow at the end of March. Carlow’s Environmental Awareness Officer, Jannette O’Brien, invited us to come down and tell the good people down there all about the deposit return scheme and how it will benefit them. A classic bit of Irish Springtime weather greeted us: lovely and sunny but bitter cold to the bones!

It made no difference to the mood of those we met as everyone was very supportive of the upcoming scheme. Indeed, it is a recurring theme in all of our conversations with the public, wherever they may take place, that everyone thinks that the deposit return scheme is an excellent, common sense way to deal with litter and to increase recycling.

In addition to good folk of Carlow, we were also delighted to meet the Mayor of Carlow, Cllr Ken Murnane, as well as other people from Carlow County Council, all of whom were very excited to see what a high-performing deposit return scheme can do for Carlow.
